embrella seeks a passionate, experienced, results-oriented Director of Development to strategize, build, plan, organize and direct all aspects of fundraising. Minimum of 5 + years diversified experience in professional fundraising. Must have the ability to work effectively with the CEO, board and staff. Mix of remote and in-office working. As a new position at the organization the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a strong fundraising program and processes to support the organization’s goals.

POSITION SUMMARY (Short summary of the essential purpose of the job)

The Director of Development is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating annual and long-term fundraising strategies that will meaningfully engage and motivate donors to meet fund development goals. The Director of Development is responsible for ensuring the stability and growth of multifaceted contributed revenue streams including: individual giving, annual gifts, major gifts, planned gifts, institutional giving (foundation, corporate), grants, fundraising events and e-philanthropy. The Director of Development collaborates closely with the Board, CEO and other staff in all fundraising endeavors. As a new position in the organization, the Director of Development is responsible for building the development function.

This is a Full Time Exempt position requiring flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as needed for meeting, projects and events.

The above listed job duties is a brief description for this position and the Director of Development may be required to perform other tasks that are deemed necessary by the CEO.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL REQUIRED (Minimum education and experience needed to perform the job adequately)

· Bachelor’s Degree

· Must embrace the mission of embrella

· 5+ years minimum diversified, successful experience in professional nonprofit fundraising

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls

· Strong people skills and solid organizational background; possess the skills to work with and motivate board, staff and other volunteers

· Display a positive attitude, show concern for people, community and diversity, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL DESIRED:

· Knowledge of Salesforce or similar fundraising software

· Experience with nonprofit fundraising in New Jersey

· Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties that occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job)

· Develop and oversee fundraising plan in coordination with CEO and Board.

· Identify prospective individual and corporate donors and develop strategies to cultivate those relationships.

· Maintain ongoing communications with private and corporate donors

· Meet prospective donors and supporters in person and virtually on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.

· Grow a major gifts program including identification, prospect research, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.

· Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.

· Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.

· Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.

· Ensure timely and accurate report deliveries to funders.

· Work closely with CEO and Board of Directors.

· Attend Board Fund Development Committee meetings.

· Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the agency with the community.

· Supervise Program Coordinator.

· Coordinate with Communications staff in creation of publications to support fund raising activities.

· Collaborate with staff and board on planning and managing of fundraising special events.

· Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.

· Maintain gift recognition programs.

· Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.

· Provides CEO with reports as directed

· Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO

There may be a minimal amount of lifting up to 20 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear in person and on the telephone. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit and reach above the shoulders. This job requires the staff person to work evenings as needed.

Pay: $80,000.00 per year
