Purpose, Scope & Dimension of Job:
The Lead Operator – Printing & Duplicating reports directly to the Supervisor – Auxiliary Services and is responsible for scheduling and completing printing requests from customers; coordinating and helping customers interpret their printing requirements according to equipment capability; conferring with customers regarding scheduling and finishing special job requirements; interacting with customers and accepting their directives; and coordinating all aspects of production planning to meet turnaround times requested by the customer.
Supervisory Responsibility:
The Lead Operator – Printing & Duplicating is responsible for the routine and day-to-day activities by the temporary worker(s) and student workers in the Print room. Leads the Operator – Printing & Duplicating for daily tasks. All disciplinary actions, etc will be handled by the Supervisor – Auxiliary Services.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Associates Degree in related field OR two years experience in a related field, encompassing significant diversity of services, which required interaction with vendors and multiple departmental entities and must complete Associates Degree within two years of hire.
- Demonstrated work history of providing high quality, strong customer-oriented services including problem-solving orientation; strong listening skills; expertise in advising and consulting; history of coordinated work effort with extensive follow-through and follow-up; and experience identifying customer needs.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills to include high energy level; cheerful, positive disposition; strong work ethic; and ability to work independently and in groups.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills—must be able to communicate in a clear, concise manner. Must have the ability to respond to the needs of others in a timely yet realistic manner.
- Must be able to prioritize and organize work and work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, with little supervision.
- Make deliveries in inclement weather, depending on safety and time.
- Ability to maintain complete and accurate records.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Familiarity with printing concepts; demonstrated ability to work independently, with little supervision; strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn upgraded automated and computerized equipment; to upgrade skills to meet requirements of new equipment; to work under constant deadline conditions; and to work with internal and external customers with courtesy and tact.
- Must possess logic and analytical skills sufficient to understand machine operations and apply this knowledge to production requests.
- Working knowledge of production operations sequence, machine operation and capabilities, complex job elements; and copy printing principles.
- Ordering supplies and maintaining all equipment.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of six months experience operating similar equipment in a similar environment
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

- Flexible schedule outside the standard office hours required.
Physical Requirements:
- The work is noisy and confined, requires a stationary position constantly, bending and reaching during operation of equipment and lifting of cases of paper (up to 50 pounds).
Work Schedule
Must maintain a flexible schedule. General workday is eight hours, Monday through Friday, but evening and weekend work may be required.
