The Director will administer programs, services, and activities related to Aviation. The Director serves on designated committees, participates in student related functions and performs all other duties as assigned by the Dean of Technical Education and Workforce Development. The individual in this position will work as part of a team within the Division on student recruitment, dual enrollment, work-based learning opportunities for students, and placement of graduates. Salary: Commensurate with education and experience according to the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule C3-2 (Salary range: $41,276 - $82,775). Benefits: Full time employees are entitled to the College’s benefit package to include: PEEHIP, retirement, leave (annual, sick, and personal), etc.ANTICIPATED START DATE: As soon as possible

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following: Administer policies and procedures pertaining to programs, personnel, business functions, instruction, and facilities related to Aviation.Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff; assisting in developing and implementing professional development plans.Develop and submit reports and other documents as required by College, State and Federal agencies.Ensure that grades, attendance reports, and other documentation required by College, State and Federal agencies, etc. are submitted on or before the deadline.Assist with academic advising for students enrolled in Aviation programs.Ensure compliance with state and federal laws.Ensure compliance with policies and procedures of the College and the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees.Ensure compliance with requirements of accrediting and certifying bodies including; but not limited to, the Federal Aviation Administration and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.Develop, manage, and administer the Aviation program budget.Serve on College committees.Market to business and industry customized training, short-term training, and other workforce development services available from the College.Conduct department/program tours for prospective students and other interested parties.In cooperation with the Director of Technical Education and the Director of Technical Career Services, provide orientation and recruitment sessions for new students.Recruit prospective students by, but limited to the following; making school visits and attending day/night and weekend college fairs, career days, community events and working with veteran organizations.In cooperation with the Director of Technical Education, evaluate previous work and education experience of applicants for employment and recommend to the appropriate Dean, college credit to be awarded for prior learning experience.Ensure that physical plant and grounds are clean and well maintained.Represent the Aviation program at community events, civic organizations, and aviation interests when needed.Develop and nurture relationships with local high school representatives and with area business and community leadersMaintain a healthful, clean, safe, and secure campus environment that is conducive to effective teaching and learning.Monitor and analyze aviation/aerospace industry trends; leads curricula revisions to reflect trends.Ensure proper maintenance and security of equipment and training aids.Maintain an inventory of College property.Ensure accurate records of student performance and attendance are maintained.Ensure that follow-up of program completers is conducted to ascertain employment placement and other required information.Establish class schedules and faculty teaching assignments.Ensure faculty practice safe use of tools and equipment and instructs students on safe practices.Assist prospective students, both in person and at a distance, in the application and enrollment process.Respond to inquiries from prospective students using, but not limited to, social media, telephone and e-mail inquiries.Plan and/or assist with special events and activities to bring prospective students and other constituent groups to the campus.Establish and maintain productive employer partnerships.Help students identify employment options that match their career interests.Represent the College at off-campus activities/events as needed.Foster and cultivate positive interactions with other departments and programs across the College.Must have excellent and effective oral and written communication skills and excellent computer skills.Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.Supervisory or management experience is required.Experience in the aviation industry is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSTeaching or administrative experience in a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certificated Part 147 operation is preferred.FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certification is preferred.
