Job Description

The University of Notre Dame is hiring a part-time temporary International Student Records Assistant to assist the International Student and Scholar Affairs’ Student Immigration Advising team with operations that relate to student and University compliance with U.S. immigration laws. This role will assist with records management for F-1 students and process immigration document requests, specifically for incoming student and work authorization document requests.
This individual will need to familiarize themselves with immigration regulations, procedures and resources. In addition to developing excellent knowledge and skills in application of student immigration regulations, this role will manage student records within SEVIS and our data management system, Sunapsis, analyze documentation supplied by students, identify patterns in student engagement that helps the team remain proactive in advising, and assist with data reporting and audits. The individual will have opportunities to suggest process and communication improvements, as that is ongoing and expected on our team. The individual will appropriately escalate intermediate / advanced immigration issues to the Associate Director/Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications

  • must be a US citizen or permanent resident to gain designation by the Department of Homeland Security as a Designated School Official (DSO)
  • quick, curious learner, as it’s important to understand regulations and nuance in their application
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • strong analysis and problem-solving skills
  • detail oriented, accurate, and efficient in processing tasks
  • experience with data and record management
  • proficient in Microsoft and Google tools, and comfortable learning and using data management software, like Sunapsis and Banner

Preferred Qualifications

  • experience with F-1 student data and record management
