Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Assistant Dean III for the The Office of the Dean of Students. The Assistant Dean III for Undocumented Student Services reports to the Associate Dean of Students and serves the primary contact for support for undocumented students at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. The position assists undocumented students, families, and eligible dependents with the completion of supportive University services provided to students. As a staff member in the Dean of Students Office, the position liaises with University/System offices including Admissions, the Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Accounting, Disability Services, Student Health, Counseling, Academic Deans, Tutoring, Career Development, and Student Legal Services to make sure students are connected to the resources needed.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assists with case management, assessing academic and personal needs and assisting students who may be in crisis.
  • Works with undocumented students to increase their academic and social integration into the University by working with other University units and student organizations to create and implement programs to assist with policy change to ensure an undocumented student friendly university.
  • Develops relationships and collaborate with local agencies and community organizations to provide students with additional avenues to resources and programming opportunities for students and the community.
  • Regularly assesses the needs of undocumented students to develop holistic action plans to better serve future undocumented students.
  • Serves as the primary advisor to UndocuRutgers student organization, assisting the organization with programs, initiatives, and advocacy activities.
  • Performs open office hours and on call responsibilities, as well as other DOS duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in communication, higher education, public administration, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant management experience working with college students.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with DACA regulations and state/federal policies related to undocumented students needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, student affairs, conflict resolution or related field.
  • Experience in working and advocating for Undocumented students.
  • Experience working directly with Undocumented college students in particular.
