Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Director’s Office within Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Fellow position is to conduct research investigation to understand the pathogenesis of MEN1 Syndrome and identify potential therapeutic targets under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Performs research, experiments, and laboratory techniques of a specialized nature under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator. Drafts written reports for inclusion in manuscripts and grant proposals.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Conducts research experiments to understand the pathogenesis of MEN1 Syndrome and identify potential therapeutic targets.
  • Prepares written reports of the research experiments.
  • Prepares grant proposals based on the research conducted.
  • Gives oral presentations of the research.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant science finishing their training (following their residency and/or fellowship) who wish to prepare for careers in academic medicine.
  • Candidates in all but degree status will also be considered.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in cancer biology research.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Laboratory environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals
