Dress for Success-Phoenix, an affiliate of Dress for Success Worldwide, is an independent 501(c) organization that is part of a global movement to provide women with the resources they need to be financially secure and independent, offering long-lasting solutions that enable women to break the cycle of poverty. Dress for Success Worldwide began in 1997 and has since helped nearly one million women in 23 countries and 145 cities, including Phoenix.
Since inception in 2009, Dress for Success-Phoenix, has transformed the lives of more than 16,000 women, by providing them with more than $700,000 in apparel and accessories, countless hours of professional development, training, and supportive networking programs that expand their skills and confidence. The outcomes are impressive, and tangible as evidenced by 76% securing employment, 23% receiving promotions within one year, and 80% reducing debt or building an emergency savings fund.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will successfully lead the organization to a new level of accomplishment and reach. The ideal candidate for this role will strongly believe in Dress for Success-Phoenix’s mission and have a successful track record in leadership within a data-driven, mission-driven organization of comparable size. The CEO leads a team of 14 dedicated professionals, and directly manages three direct reports including the Operations Manager, Director of Women’s Services and Accountant. The 2021 budget is projected for $1.4M and includes the addition of 4 new staff members including a yet to be filled position for a Director of Development, allowing the new CEO to recruit key new talent to the organization. The leadership team is augmented by a highly skilled Board of Directors and 200 volunteers.
The Board of Directors is seeking a visionary, collaborative, and data-driven servant leader with an unwavering commitment to breaking the cycle of poverty. Prior experience in a social services organization is strongly desired. The successful candidate will have a history of leading change initiatives across diverse staff and clients and a demonstrated growth mindset. Demonstrated experience scaling an outcomes-based organization is needed. The ability to partner with the Board and senior management to identify funders, strategically guide opportunities to engage and establish new relationships, and to build a robust pipeline that supports annual and long-term fundraising goals is needed. Experience cultivating and soliciting major donors as well as grant writing experience is strongly desired. Proven ability to recognize and act on revenue generating opportunities that may be innovative or non-traditional would be highly valued. The person we seek will be an innovative marketer who will continue to grow visibility for Dress for Success-Phoenix. Experience in a senior leadership role where s/he has either reported directly to or worked closely with a Board of Directors is expected. An undergraduate degree from a four-year college or university, or four years or more relevant experience is required, graduate degree preferred. Minimum of ten years of senior level management experience is desired.
