This key position reports to the Director of Business Services and provides managerial leadership for the Material Management areas and the Logistical Delivery Network for the college system.

Manages and directs the Delivery System Network, the Mail Center and the Shipping & Receiving areas operations to support the academic and administrative processes of the college to ensure the highest possible quality by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinates.

This position provides complex problem solving mail and logistic solutions daily for all levels of the organization at the Dayton Campus as well as all remote locations. This includes expanding services as needed, while ensuring the entire system receives and is following the most current postal regulations, that internal mail is processed optimally, that the shipping/receiving operation processes incoming and outgoing shipments efficiently and prudently for all departments, customers and locations.

The Manager of Mail & Logistics, guiding trained personnel, assures that the college receives
Services’ such as processing incoming shipments, filing damage claims, ensuring deliveries are made to the correct departments and location, and paperwork is processed so that the college’s bills can be paid. This position also oversees the usage of the college vehicles, disposition of surplus property, capital asset inventory, satellite copier supplies and the intelligent lockers.

Principal Accountabilities

Management

  • Manage, supervise and maintain the efficient operation of the Delivery System Network, the Mail Center and the Shipping & Receiving operations for the entire college system
  • Manage staff and the operations of Materials Management functions of Capital Assets, Inventory & Surplus Equipment disposition for entire college system
  • Manages the distribution of U.S. and Interoffice mail in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations for the entire college system

Technical

  • Oversee, supervises, develop, implement and utilize the automation process used for outgoing first class, standard and periodical mailings
  • Process periodical/standard outgoing mailings for user departments. To include folding/inserting and addressing
  • Manage the Intelligent Locker System
  • Coordinate the satellite copier supply system; to include ordering, receiving, storing, and delivering paper and the various copier supplies

Customer/Community Relations

  • Through individual contact, workshops & in-services inform the college system stakeholders about the various USPS postal classes, regulations and issues, communicate and train internal customers on the changing environment to meet their needs cost effectively
  • Work with key internal and external stakeholders to implement increasing automation requirements per postal regulations. Validate automated mail process to reduce undeliverable as addressed (UAA), thereby reducing college mailing costs.

Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related business discipline required
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in related field required
  • Extensive professional in-depth USPS networking relationship experience preferred
  • Technical expertise related to the USPS local and national market places, regulations and systems preferred
  • Business experience and specific knowledge related to logistical delivery system required
  • Knowledge of software applications, spreadsheets, and word processing required
  • Ability to write, develop business models and analyze reports required
  • Good analytical and communication skills required
