MAJOR FUNCTION: The Facilities Operations Superintendent is housed within Plant Operations and reports directly to the Director. This position will supervise all activities of the custodial and landscaper staff and services for the College. Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Performs, plans & schedules work assignments to be accomplished by shift supervisors & contractors. Evaluates all set-up requests, furniture moves & establishes time & labor to perform the task. Provide technical and or specific hands on training as required. Inspects Main Campus on a monthly schedule to insure all custodial and landscape services are being performed to Campus Standards.
- Assists with the development of policy & procedures, & work standards. Coordinates departmental safety training. Communicates to others: rules, policies, procedures & standards of the department and college, reviews leave requests for approval/denial. Coordinates/completes Employee Performance Reviews with the assistance of immediate supervisor. Assists Supervisors with recruitment and training of new personnel. Investigates all personnel matters in a timely manner. Prepares documentation on all disciplinary actions. Investigates and evaluates in a timely manner all special service requests or complaints brought forth by building occupant, on main campus. Takes immediate corrective action to resolve deficiencies and to promote positive relationships with our customers. Assist in development and management of budgets. Responsible for proper storage and maintenance of custodial and Landscaping equipment. Maintain all custodial & Landscaping records utilizing AiM, Workday or other programs as required. Responsible for purchasing of supplies and services to support the Custodial & Landscaping Departments.
- Assist Director in development of budgets. Coordinates inventory, purchasing of supplies and maintain budget.
MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma and five years of custodial or landscape supervisory experience. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of proper methods and procedures for cleaning and/or landscaping. Knowledge of use of chemicals. Knowledge of basic sanitation and/or landscaping principles. Knowledge of budgets. Knowledge of basic record keeping. -Knowledge and proficient in the use a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of program planning, evaluation, and training. Ability to use the College’s Human Capital Management System (HCS) and the AIM System. Ability to work independently. Ability to supervise staff. Ability to issue supplies and keep inventory. Ability to give written and oral instructions. Ability to make independent judgements. Ability to organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift 75 pounds. Ability to work with administrators, faculty, and staff to coordinate needed services. Ability to operate a motor vehicle to travel to various off campus sites. Ability to communicate on a two-way radio. Ability to review and formulate custodial policies and procedures. Ability to conduct inspections of buildings, furnishings and custodial equipment. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
