RCC was established through community activism by leaders frustrated with the lack of educational opportunities for Boston's black population and in response to efforts to build a highway through the heart of this historic neighborhood. Through data and countless community conversations over two years, RCC established the Center for Economic and Social Justice (CESJ) to organize RCC and community resources to spearhead solutions that will truly advance better economic and social outcomes with our community. CESJ initiatives intended to advance this effort include RCC's new Business Innovation Center (BIC), a reimagined Career and Internship Services (CIS) office, and a variety of community-engaged partnerships focused on employment and careers, education and training, financial management, well-being, and household stability. The CESJ is initially focused on economic opportunities in emerging industries (green technologies, clean energy, artificial intelligence, etc.), healthcare, and business.

The CESJ Program Director will work with staff, faculty, students, and partners to operationalize, assess, and iterate CESJ programs in support of college and community priorities. Specifically, the CESJ strives to create a model of economic mobility through collaboration with a focus on supporting RCC students to achieve life-sustaining wage careers. The CESJ will collaborate with existing RCC programs, support the creation of new campus initiatives, and work with external partners in the non-profit, philanthropic, and private sectors to drive systems change and remove historic barriers that have led to inequities in the communities we serve. Current CESJ programming includes:


 

A Business Innovation Center to support small businesses with particular emphasis on growth in high-opportunity industries
Career and Internship Services that provides students the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to succeed in their chosen career pathway?including a new student jobs program
Strategic partnerships throughout the college that support college and community priorities through events, mutually aligned activities, and experiential learning opportunities


 

In addition, the CESJ will facilitate community initiatives and events intended to address a wide range of issues key to self-sufficiency and social justice. RCC will lead where it makes sense, but our approach is one where we want to collaborate with existing community efforts and build on the tremendous work already supporting our community whenever possible.


 

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader experienced in program development, management, and assessment. We are looking for someone who can build relationships quickly with a wide range of stakeholders. This individual should be effective at working behind the scenes to operationalize CESJ programs and partnerships in collaboration with a small team of dedicated professionals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all CESJ programming, staff, and service partnerships.
  • Work with team members to co-create and implement an iterative cycle for CESJ programming that advances economic and social justice.
  • Maintain an asset-based approach to working with the community, partners, and internal RCC stakeholders.
  • Oversee all CESJ grants and funding in partnership with appropriate staff to ensure timely reporting, assessments, and sound fiscal management.
  • Assists in identifying, engaging, and aligning potential programmatic partners for RCC and CESJ.
  • Co-create impact assessments and support initiatives through adoption of shared metrics.
  • Support marketing, communications, and community engagement activities.
  • Support fundraising activities including grant writing, donor stewardship, and sponsorships.
  • Work with the Executive Director, program staff, and other internal and external stakeholders to develop a CESJ policy agenda and/or public statements.
  • Oversee the successful facilitation of community events that advance CESJ priorities.
  • Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and the development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the CESJ by performing all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:


Education:
 A bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

Experience: At least four years of relevant experience is required.

Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, knowledge of program development, management, and assessment, and computer literacy are required. Experience effectively leading teams and working with diverse stakeholders is key for this position. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. Knowledge of Collective Impact and Results Based Accountability a plus.


 

Other: The scope of the position requires evening and occasional weekend work.


Additional Information:


Compensation:
 $95,000.00- $110,000 (commensurate with experience and qualifications)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. The hours for this position may vary based on programming needs and the scheduling of events. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.
