JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Artificial Heart and Cardiovascular Fluid Dynamics Labs at The Pennsylvania State University has multiple Postdoctoral Scholar positions open in the field of thrombosis modeling and cardiovascular fluid dynamics. Candidates who have a strong background in Biochemistry, Mathematics, and/or Fluid Dynamics (experimental and computational methods (use of OpenFOAM) are welcome to apply. Experience in blood handling is a plus.

In each of the roles below, the individual will be expected to help guide graduate and undergraduate students in their research, participate in the preparation and submission of manuscripts and proposals, present results at scientific conferences, and prepare reports for funded projects.

1. One position is focused mostly on computational modeling. The research activities will include performing computations and some experiments related to thrombosis and cardiovascular fluid dynamics.

2. One position is focused mostly on experimental fluid dynamic and in vitro blood studies. The research activities will include performing experiments and some computations related to thrombosis and cardiovascular fluid dynamics.

3. One position is focused on in vivo animal studies and in vitro blood studies (prior surgical expertise is a plus). The research activities will include performing animal and bench top experiments related to thrombosis and cardiovascular fluid dynamics/devices.

Each position requires a doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in a scientific discipline by time of appointment. The duration is for one year, renewal possible depending on availability of funds.
