Midway University seeks a Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences. This position holds faculty status in the University and leads the faculty in strategic and long-term planning efforts within the school and works with them to implement change, including enhancing standards for student and faculty performance, recruiting new faculty who are committed to the institution, fostering faculty development, increasing faculty scholarship and grant writing, building and growing enrollment in academic programs, and strengthening and broadening ties internally and externally. The School of Arts and Sciences is composed of four departments (Math & Science, Social Science, Communication, Humanities & Arts, and Education), nine degree programs (Biology, Mathematics, Criminal Justice, Psychology, English, Interdisciplinary studies, Teacher Education- initial certification, Education Studies, and the Master of Education), and oversees the University’s general education program. The Dean is immediately responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school, specifically personnel, curriculum, budget, and planning. The Dean works with the department chairs and faculty to ensure that the highest standards are met, and that students’ needs are met.
Must hold a doctorate in a discipline within the School. At least five years in an administrative capacity at the department level or above in higher education. Demonstrate a record of program development, fiscal and personnel management, and effective teaching. Prior experience with accreditation is also required. Salary is commensurate with experience. Experience and qualification for the faculty rank of Associate Professor or higher. This position shall remain open until filled.
