JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The laboratory of Ramesh Giri in the Department of Chemistry, at The Pennsylvania State University, seeks to fill a postdoctoral research position with an individual who has extensive experience in organic synthesis and method development.

Specifically, strong skills in experimental design, synthesis, compound characterization, organometallic synthesis and mechanistic studies are required. Experience in theoretical (density functional theory) calculations are preferred, but not required.

The applicant must have recently received, or be scheduled to receive, a Ph.D. in chemistry, or related area, by the time employment starts. The individual should be highly self-motivated and is expected to lead their own individual projects as well as contribute to collaborative research efforts.

Interested and qualified applicants must submit applications electronically to include a cover letter describing your background and prior training, a CV which includes a list of publications, and a brief statement (1-2 pages) of research interests. Following a screening of these initial application materials, appropriate candidates will be contacted by email and asked to arrange for three (3) letters of recommendation to be sent.

This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one-year from the date of hire with a possibility of re-funding. Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
