Posting Summary

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Radiation Oncology department at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ).

The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Appointee position is to conduct independent laboratory research under the direction of the principal investigator. The current focus of the lab is the mechanisms and models of breast cancer associated with mutations in tumor suppressors BRCA1, PALB2 and BRCA2. The postdoctoral appointee will use mammalian cell culture and mouse models to understand the DNA damage repair and cell cycle checkpoint control in vitro and vivo, and may also explore avenues to model or prevent cancer development associated with mutations in the above genes.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Works under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
  • Carries out various experimental and bioinformatics studies to investigate the DNA damage response functions of
    BRCA1, PALB2 and BRCA2.
  • Understands, demonstrates and models the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey core values.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Candidate should have a new or recent PhD Degree.
  • Strong background in molecular biology and cell biology.
  • Candidates in all but degree (ABD) status will also be considered.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to publish scientific research papers/articles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior background in mouse work.
