Compensation: Starting salary is based on rank and applicable steps for related work experience as per the Santa Fe College Salary Schedule. Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.


The SF College Emerging Technologies Department is seeking a qualified full-time Clinical Laboratory Science 12 month faculty member with program director responsibilities. Primary assignments will include didactic, clinical and laboratory instruction and evaluation of clinical laboratory science students. This position is responsible for curriculum in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology/Hemostasis, Immunology, Immunohematology/Transfusion medicine, Microbiology, Urine and Body Fluid Analysis and Laboratory Operations, and other emerging diagnostics and related disciplines. This position is tasked with maintaining the program’s accreditation with the National Accreditation Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). Additional responsibilities include designing and delivering instruction, evaluating student learning, managing course activities, consulting and mentoring students, drafting and submitting reports, coordinating student clinical assignments, navigating external constituent relationships, and professional development as it relates to improvement in the performance of the position. In addition to direct responsibilities associated with student learning, faculty will be responsible for non-instructional service to the department, program, and college.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Plan, organize, and deliver instruction in didactic, laboratory and/or online settings to promote student success within a community college setting and align with the NAACLS curriculum guidelines.

  • Support and promote the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.

  • Collaborate with department chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum to cultivate the mastery of course content.

  • Program Director responsibilities include drafting and submitting reports for internal and external audiences, evaluating program effectiveness and creating curriculum.

  • Strictly honor the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Appropriately document student progress and maintain records including attendance, grading and student learning outcomes.

  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment of and clear feedback regarding academic performance, including evaluating, consulting and instructing students during clinical rotations and correlating clinical education with didactic education.

  • Assist the department chair with conducting annual advisory board meetings.

  • Maintain current knowledge of the discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development in compliance with College and Departmental guidelines.

  • Participate in meetings and program advisory committee work as designated.

  • Assist with implementation of college policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with SF college philosophy, values, and mission.

  • Work a flexible schedule at multiple worksites.

  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Department Chair, Emerging Technologies


Required: A minimum of a Master’s Degree in any recognized academic major within biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory sciences or a Master's Degree with eighteen (18) graduate course hours in any combination of the qualifying fields is required. Please see the SF Faculty Credentialing Manual. A minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist is required. A minimum of three years of relevant teaching experience within a college setting and/or clinical coordination experience is required. A current American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) generalist certification is required.

Preferred: Greater than one year of clinical experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist is preferred. Previous experience with education methods, administration, certification procedures and current NAACLS accreditation procedures is preferred. Course work in educational methodology and management is also preferred.

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.
