Summary

The Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to contribute to the broad research effort in the Texas Children's Cancer Hstiocytosis and Lymphoma Program Lab.  Will  conduct laboratory experiments on research projects with focus on immunology, immune  disorders, lymphoproliferative disorders and lymphomas. Will also keep abreast of  current publications relative to methods, techniques and developments within area of research;  successfully compete for extramural funding from National Cancer Institute, National Institute of  Health, Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, and additional foundation grant  sources; summarize data and provide supervision and guidance to junior level technicians. In  addition to directly performing the proposed immunology and molecular biology experiments,  will coordinate studies with collaborating clinical and translational research teams. Will need to be able to work in a team environment. 

 

 


Job Duties
  • Research techniques will focus on molecular biology (e.g. tissue processing, nucleic acid  extraction, tissue culture, PCR, flow cytometry, mouse colony maintenance) and immunology  with experimental systems as well as primary human and mouse tissues. A strong background  in experimental immunology, cell biology, molecular biology experimental mouse model  development is required. 
  • Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
  • Evaluates and analyzes data.
  • May establish new research protocols and procedures.
  • Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals. 
  • May be responsible for laboratory operations.
  • May supervise research staff.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
  • Experience with molecular and cell biology techniques,  including qPCR, western blots, Immunohistochemistry, RNAi, mutagenesis, and cell proliferation and migration assays.
