A bioinformatics/plant breeding post-doc position is available in the Tropical Fruit Genetics and Breeding Lab at the University of Florida Tropical Research and Education Center. The position will be located in Homestead, Fl. Primary responsibilities include analysis of genomics datasets from multiple species including mango, vanilla, and other tropical/subtropical fruits. Job responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, development of segregating populations, phenotyping plant collections, routine molecular biology/tissue culture work, and other research activities as needed. This position includes both lab and field-based research components. The position is available for one year contingent upon satisfactory performance, and can be extended for up to 2 years. The position is available starting summer 2021. Pay rate is $47,746 with benefits.Job Qualifications
PhD in horticulture, plant sciences, genomics, or a related discipline
Experience analyzing genomics data is required. This can include comparative genomics, RNA-seq, and/or GBS to interrogate target pathways and identify marker-trait associations.
Working with crop species
Communication both oral and written
