This is a faculty appointment at the rank of tenured, full Professor of Political Science. Candidates will be expected to maintain a rigorous grant writing and research program, teach graduate level courses in the program, train doctoral students, and participate in university governance commensurate with the rank of tenure, full Professor. As Director of the LeRoy Collins Institute, the candidate will conduct the research program of the Institute and serve as the administrative officer and principal financial officer of the Institute. The Director reports to the Collins Institute Board about the Institute’s activities and future plans. The Director also serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy.


PhD in Political Science with demonstrated evidence of outstanding research achievements, including evidence of a federally funded, independent research program. Candidates should have an established international reputation based on a scholarly record of excellence appropriate to their career stage, demonstrated evidence of excellence in graduate teaching and training, and demonstrated record of effective leadership of an academic department, center, and/or institute

Other Information

The appointment will be contingent upon a successful tenure review and approval of the Florida State University President. The position is a 50% (.50 FTE) appointment in the fall 2021 and increases to a 100% (1.0 FTE) appointment in the spring 2022.
