Job Summary

The Educational Leadership Program at Auburn University is developing a regional principal network program for innovative and transformative school leadership development. The Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) will be a critical member of the leadership team for this work. In 2021/2022, the first year of the program, we will invite a group of approximately 10 practicing principals to serve as our advisory board. Working with this advisory board, the GRA will support program design, facilitate creative forms of networking, and use personal expertise to guide professional initiatives to success. We expect early phases of programming to begin fall 2021 and continue serving a new cohort of principals every three years. With exemplary service, the GRA can expect continued support for four years.

Essential Functions

Primary responsibility is to engage in original, professional-level research under a faculty member’s supervision in the course of obtaining a graduate degree.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in the field of education (or closely related field)

Minimum of three years’ experience as an educator (conceptualized broadly)

Commitment for earning their PhD degree within four years

Capacity to contribute towards innovative program development and implementation

Competent with technology, especially software applications, (e.g., Teams, Zoom, Box, MS Office Suite), and capacity to learn new programs

Strong communication and relationship building skills

Preferred Qualifications

Documented experience with some aspect of innovative learning program development and/or implementation

Experience with distance education, both as teacher and learner

Sincere interest, if not full commitment, to dissertation study related to some aspect of principal learning/professional development and/or innovation

Research experience (literature reviews, instrument development, data collection)

$1,500/month
