Recruitment/Posting Title Postdoctoral Associate
Department FASC - Biology
Salary Commensurate With Experience
Posting Summary

The FASC-Biology department is recruiting a postdoctoral associate to join Dr. Amy Savage’s lab at Rutgers-University Camden. The postdoc will work on a project assessing the behavioral-molecular mechanisms and landscape-wide ecological consequences of altered nutritional landscapes for ants living in North American cities. The ideal candidate will have skills in molecular assessments (e.g. macromolecules, histone modifications, and genes) of ant workers, larvae, and queens, experience working with laboratory ant colonies, and interests in the behavioral and molecular mechanisms that underlie broad-scale ecological changes across urbanizing landscapes. They should also be comfortable working in both wild and managed field sites across the United states. This position will include teaching undergraduate classes (one course per semester), mentoring undergraduate students in research, and conducting independent research under the direction of Dr. Savage within the broader scope of the project. They will also be expected to write manuscripts that will be submitted to primary scientific journals and to assist with grant proposals as needed. The position will be funded for the first year, but may be extended a second and third year pending grant funding and sufficient progress towards project goals. This position includes full benefits in accordance with Rutgers University’s policies.
