The Upward Bound Program, federally funded, is designed to help first generation/low income high school students attend and succeed in post-secondary education. The Summer Educational Coach/Advisor has many responsibilities including but not limited to: 30hrs/wk for the six week summer component ; plan and facilitate group meetings, electives, and advising; help plan and implement classes; serve as a tutor during study hall and help with seminars; etc.
Summer Educational Coach/Advisor (6 will be hired – traditionally the Summer Residential. Education Counselor role/Summer Counselor)
Candidates must be ready to start orientation/planning by June 1, 2021. Summer program dates 6/21-7/30.
Minimum- completed second year of college in academic good standing; Bachelor and graduated level students are welcome; demonstrated dynamic leadership and success as an academic “coach”; awareness of higher education principles, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines; excellent communication skills; and demonstrated knowledge of factors affecting student access and success in higher education, including those affecting disadvantaged students, student from diverse backgrounds, and students with disabilities.
