JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A Postdoctoral scholar position is available to pursue research and provide clinical services for the Women’s Health and Exercise Laboratory (WHEL), in the Department of Kinesiology, at The Pennsylvania State University.

Applicants will be expected to develop study protocols, obtain and maintain IRB approval, coordinate and manage data, as well as run statistics and write manuscripts. Candidates will also be required to manage data collection of blood, saliva, fecal and other study samples, all survey data, exercise and nutrition data, energetic metabolism data, and other data collected in WHEL. Applicants will also be expected to provide mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students in the WHEL Lab, fulfillment of internship opportunities, as well as research and career development. The scholar will have opportunities to publish from existing and new datasets, design and conduct pilot studies and collaborate on grant writing (including submitting their own grants). The ideal candidate will be ISCD certified and have a minimum of 3-years’ experience scanning on both DXA and pQCT platforms.

 Candidates should have:

  • obtained a PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field (e.g., exercise physiology),
  • published at least one peer-reviewed paper as first author
  • background in Female and Male Athlete Triad research
  • excellent communication and organization skills, and experience with interdisciplinary collaboration.

Scholars will be appointed for one-year with renewal possible based on performance and availability of funding.
