Job Description
The Montgomery College, Adult ESOL & Literacy Grant Program, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching Adult Literacy, GED® Preparation. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.
Come join the largest adult education program in Maryland! Our program focuses on life, literacy, and civic skills and GED® Preparation (academic) instruction. Classes meet days, evening, or Saturdays at various sites throughout the county. Classes will be taught On-Campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Faculty member will be expected to teach Adult Literacy or GED® test preparation classes.
- Faculty members will abide to program policies and procedures.
- Faculty members will participate in training sessions prior to the class start date.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in at least one of the following subjects: Math, Reading or Special Education.

- Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
- Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus)*. Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. *If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and/or extensive experience in Secondary Education (Math, Language Arts-reading & writing, science, social studies) preferred.
- 6 months experience teaching Adult Literacy and/or GED®.
Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
