Reports To Division Chair of Arts and Humanities Education Required

PhD or Master’s Degree in Spanish Language or Linguistics Applied to Spanish as a Foreign Language, or Spanish Language Teaching with appropriate B.S. degree in Spanish.

Minimum academic credentials: 18 graduate credits of Spanish with a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish.

Classification Faculty - Part Time Adjunct Position Term 10 months Basic Statement of Responsibilities

The teacher is responsible for teaching students through formal and informal classroom in an atmosphere compatible with the philosophies, goals and objectives of the college.

The instructor will train with Allegany College of Maryland faculty mentors, follow the Allegany College of Maryland student learning outcomes, syllabus and texts, and use Learning Management System (LMS).

Qualifications

Teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting. Experience with online teaching/virtual learning is preferred.

Education, Experience, and Specialized Skills

PhD or Master’s Degree in Spanish Language or Linguistics Applied to Spanish as a Foreign Language, or Spanish Language Teaching with appropriate B.S. degree in Spanish.
Minimum academic credentials: 18 graduate credits of Spanish with a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish.

Organizational Relationships

1. The Spanish Adjunct Faculty Member reports directly and is responsible to the Division Chair of Arts and Humanities
2. This position doesn’t supervise any other positions
3. This position works closely with all other members of the Arts and Humanities department, various other faculty members across the college and with students.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Classroom instruction, meet with students, participate in assessment, conduct course evaluations using Evaluation Toolkit; participate in orientation and mentoring; maintain e-mail communication with students and supervisors.

A. Teaching

1. Submit mid-semester and final semester grades to the Registration Office by the specified deadlines.
2. Participate in the faculty evaluation and assessment process.
3. Strive to improve teaching effectiveness and advising in a learner-centered educational model.

Faculty members are also obligated to abide by and support college policies set forth in the College Catalog, Faculty Handbook and the Human Resources Policy Manual. Faculty must be committed to the learning centered philosophy as well as the strategic priorities of the college as identified through the Strategic Plan.

The instructor will maintain training and technological competency with Brightspace, Office 365, and online training through the college’s e-course training. The modes of delivery are face-to-face instruction, flex instruction, and web instruction.

The instructor will be expected to participate as needed in student learning outcome assessment for Arts and Humanities and General Education. The instructor will design and deliver lesson plans, grade assignments, create and submit syllabi per semester, and maintain communication with students and college staff.
