Job Summary
 

The Research Technician will work within the Kupfer Lab in the Section of Gastroenterology in the Department of Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and assist with human cell isolation and immunology experiments under supervision of postdoctoral researcher or graduate student.
  • Manage obtaining legally effective patient informed consent regarding the HHS 45 CFR part 46 regulations and link biological data to clinical data.
  • Maintain tissue sample collections and workspace to both GCP and safety standards.
  • Participate in laboratory meetings regarding current research and other lab activities.
  • Maintain a safe environment for others and self; adheres to safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Installs, sets up and performs experiments; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted.


Experience:

  • One year of research experience.

Preferred Competencies

  • Laboratory skills (e.g. familiarity with cell isolation, functionals and cellular assays, flow cytometry, RT-PCR, and molecular biology). 

  • Ability to communicate with patients and interact with a diverse workforce.

  • Ability to manage deadlines.

  • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently. 

  • Analytical thinking.
