Job Description

This position provides leadership and primary educational technology support to ensure teaching quality and enhance equity in teaching with technology. The Instructional Technology Specialist will collaborate with instructors, programs, and leadership to champion quality learning design and experience. In addition to providing leadership and support for educational technology tools utilized by faculty teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities, this position will facilitate the quality assurance process in online instruction to meet college, system, and national accreditation standards and will partner with the Information Technology department to administer and support the learning management system and other educational technology tools at the college.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
1. Work collaboratively with the faculty and staff across the college to support quality in online course design and delivery.
2. Provide support of faculty in use of the learning management system. As the site administrator, take responsibility for monitoring, communicating, and providing training on upgrades, maintenance releases, and changes from the vendor or the Minnesota State system office.
3. Provide training and support for educational technology tools to enhance teaching and ensure accessibility for students.
4. Collaborate with Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence staff in the creation and evaluation of comprehensive faculty development planning and opportunities to support quality in teaching with technology.
5. Advocate for effective, evidence-based course design and delivery teaching with technology through service on college and Minnesota State committees and activities that are related to online teaching, teaching with technology, quality assurance, accessibility and inclusive teaching, and educational development.
6. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the alignment of college and center mission.

Required Qualifications

• Five years’ experience with demonstrated knowledge of designing, developing, assessing, and supporting hybrid and online course design and delivery.
• Proficiency using educational software applications and tools including, but not limited to, learning management system such as D2L Brightspace, course media production software, accessibility tools, and desktop tools such as Office 365.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity in teaching and learning.
• Demonstrated knowledge of learning theory, instructional design, and teaching methods applicable to a variety of disciplines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively and tactfully with members of the academic community.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, instructional design, or a closely related area.
• Teaching experience in a postsecondary or adult environment.
• Experience with continuous quality improvement in teaching with technology.
• Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of high-quality professional development on teaching with technology and teaching in online and hybrid environments.
• Team player who is able to manage multiple competing priorities and complete projects according to schedule.
