- Terminal or Master’s degree in a field relevant to climate and community development finance such as public policy, community development, environmental studies, business, law, or urban planning. Academic training in environmental studies is a plus.
- Leadership, management, and grant writing experience.
- At least 15 years of experience in finance, community development, environmental sustainability, or related field.
- Strong research and data analysis skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze technical and quantitative information, particularly related to community development finance, and to synthesize findings for decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks in real-time in a diversity of team settings.
- A record of excellent financial analysis, writing, and verbal skills.
- Good organization skills, detail orientation, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Commitment to the community development sector and the critical role of nonprofit organizations in driving social change.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with co-workers and representatives from the nonprofit, corporate, philanthropic, and public sectors, and with a diverse range of individuals and organizations.

- Identifying significant new program and project opportunities
- Identifying and responding to strategic opportunities and challenges

- Maintaining direct communications with key stakeholders in the climate-focused community finance field
- Providing leadership within CIF’s strategic planning process
- Structuring funding proposals and communicating with funders.
Duty/Responsibility
- Identifying initiatives that hold the most promise to transform how the community development finance field functions and accesses capital
- Evaluating opportunities and potentially leading work related to health care and community development finance, impact investing by donor advised funds, access to equity investments for Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and CDFI financial modeling.
Duty/Responsibility
- Overseeing new courses and updates to existing courses across CIF’s climate finance curriculum in both lending and development
- Creating curriculum designs in partnership with content experts
- Coaching and supporting content experts to create course materials
- Reviewing draft content created by content experts.
- Building partnerships with key training partners and content experts
Duty/Responsibility
- Developing climate lending platforms for single- and multifamily decarbonization lending
- Providing subject matter expertise and program design support to federal agencies and their grantees
- Conducting research and writing on key issues related to the implementation of climate-focused community finance programs and the deployment of resources.
- Providing consultation for partners in the climate-focused community finance field on program design and administration
Duty/Responsibility
- Teaching 2-4 cohort groups per year.
- Providing coaching and in-class support to new instructors leading new courses.
- Evaluating new instructors and new courses and providing constructive feedback, to ensure quality control.
