Department Description

The Food Chain Cluster provides administrative and technical support to the multidisciplinary academic departments of Animal Science and Nutrition within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The cluster serves more than 470 employees including 63 senate faculty, 73 academic federation members, 102 staff, 108 graduate student employees, 101 undergraduate students employees, and 26 postdoctoral scholars housed in more than 25 buildings.  

 Job Summary

Under supervision of the Business Office Manager provide administrative support to faculty, staff and students in the Food Chain Cluster with travel, entertainment reimbursements, purchasing, accounts payable and receivable, equipment inventory and key control.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to lift packages and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Experience processing travel arrangements, monitoring travel activity and expenses; purchasing equipment and lab supplies.
Experience with accounts payable/receivable. Working with invoices, monthly reconciliation of purchases.
Computer skills using software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, accounting, database management programs and travel
Knowledge of and experience with key control and inventory procedures and the skills to establish and maintain key control logs to insure accountability.
Experience providing customer service and administrative support in a busy academic office setting.
Preferred

Knowledge of UC policies and procedures related to purchasing, and travel and entertainment. Be able to interpret and apply policies and procedures related to purchasing, accounts payable, travel, and entertainment.
Knowledge and experience with UC and department equipment management and inventory policies and procedures, knowledge of the CAMS portion of DaFIS, and ability to properly inventory the assigned equipment.
Skills to organize work effectively to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous projects meet deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity.
Experience with controlled substance schedule, university level animal use protocol system and approval process, and Federal and State laws regarding purchase and payment for livestock.
