This role supports all things related to operations, data, and communications for the School and Systems Leadership Team. Specifically, you will be responsible for running operations and logistics for our direct-to-constituent programming (all virtual for now, but eventually returning to some live programming). You will also create and maintain data systems to measure our ongoing reach, engagement, and impact of our resources and programs. Finally, you will capture, codify, and share stories, knowledge, and opportunities with various constituents through a variety of media channels.

The ideal candidate will be excited by optimizing systems and processes to make them efficient, inclusive, and person centered.

You are someone who sees the potential in great data usage to be a powerful tool toward equity and understands that data has to be well organized, thoughtfully collected, and well analyzed to tell a compelling story and enact meaningful change.

You are fluent in many forms of effective communication, including various digital and visual storytelling medium, and know how to make an engaging presentation, powerpoint, or social media post.

You understand and believe that the best ideas without strong execution, measurement, and engagement remain unfulfilled.

When encountering new information, contexts, or challenges, you get curious and flexible and orient toward learning and growth over time.

You are passionate about leveraging the resources of TFA to support school and system leaders in making their schools and school systems equitable, loving, and liberatory places for their students, families, and staff.

THE ORGANIZATION

There are more than 16 million children growing up in poverty in the U.S., and less than 10 percent of them will graduate from college. These statistics are not a reflection of our children’s potential; we know that children growing up in poverty can and do achieve at the highest levels. Rather, these statistics reflect the systemic lack of access and opportunity for children in low-income communities.

THE PERSON

Support direct-to-constituent programming and offerings (30%)

  • Support program managers to create tight data and knowledge management systems

  • Set vision and lead logistics and operations plans for alumni programming (virtual and if appropriate, in person):

  • Upon a return to in-person programming:

    • Book transportation, lodging, and meals

    • Travel to programming to run on-the-ground logistics

    • Create detailed logistical plans for on-the-ground programming

    • Troubleshoot on-the-ground challenges

  • Create recruitment collateral and intake systems for programs and offerings

  • Work with external vendors to arrange payment

Collect, organize, analyze and report on School & Systems Leadership (SSL) data (30%)

  • Enter data into and leverage Salesforce to effectively manage, collect, and report on relevant data

  • Conduct external data searches as necessary

  • Collaborate with others to respond to specific data requests for stakeholders

  • Analyze, collate and present relevant data for internal and external audiences in presentations and other forms

  • Convene with other org-wide data stakeholders to collaborate on best practices in data work, share ideas, and shape infrastructure and systems for data collection and maintenance across TFA

  • Analyze and synthesize large datasets in Excel (e.g. pivot tables) and convert them into statistics and narratives that tell the story of School Systems Leader talent matching to various audiences

  • Design and maintain intake forms (e.g. SurveyMonkey, Google Forms, etc.), trackers, or other tools that help us collect data

Communicate compellingly with a variety of audiences about opportunities, impact, and programming (20%)

  • Create and revise presentations for funders and internal and external partners to share the work of the team

  • Assess current state, set vision for and maintain all relevant communications channels and content.

  • Create content for and manage the ongoing communications channels internal and external (Facebook and LinkedIn groups, social channels, etc.)

  • Produce monthly newsletter communications and occasional mass email outreach using Salesforce

  • Maintain external- and internal-facing web pages

  • Explore new media to effectively and compellingly share information and learning with our constituents

Support operations of SSL Team (20%)

  • Organize and maintain internal knowledge management systems

  • Process team wide invoices, purchase orders, etc.

  • Monitor expenditures and prepare monthly forecast document and process

  • Serve as team buyer and knowledge holder of all compliance related processes

  • Creates and maintains systems for budget tracking and compliance monitoring

  • Manages expense report submission and approval tracking

  • Team Purchase Card holder/process manager

  • Implements regular compliance and spending data analysis to share with team leader

  • Team historian: design process for maintaining a centralized calendar capturing information from key alumni programs as well as develop the system for maintaining/updating all team information



THE MUST HAVES

Prior Experience

  • Previous TFA experience (corps member or staff member) preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of previous work experience

  • Prior experience supporting event logistics a plus

  • Familiarity with data management systems (i.e. Salesforce) is a plus

Work Demands

  • Some weekend and evening work required for programming

  • Ability to lift and transport up to 40 lbs

  • Ability to travel to in-person programming in various U.S. locations via plane

Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, Vlookup)

  • Strong visual communication skills (PPT, Canva, etc.)

  • Fluency with various digital engagement tools

  • Video editing ability a plus

  • Strong organization and project management skills

THE TEAM

The School and Systems Leadership (SSL) team adds value to the network of 5,000 plus alumni in school and systems leadership by offering equity-based learning opportunities, career navigation support and resources, and access to the network of other equity minded leaders. The SSL team’s work will enable more school and systems leaders to create more liberatory learning spaces for their students and communities and sustain their leadership efforts over time.

SSLT is a sub-team inside the Collective Leadership & Engagement ( CLE). CLE is the central team at TFA focused on catalyzing the leadership, learning and impact of TFA alumni toward ending educational inequity. CLE does this by providing catalytic leadership development and learning experiences to prioritized segments of our national alumni base and working to strengthen the overall experience for all TFA alumni through increasing the quality and accessibility of baseline resources and experiences and cultivating cross regional idea pollination and sharing.
