POSITION: Farm Management Instructor

LOCATION: Carrington, ND

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: This is a 12-month, tenure track, benefited position.

BACKGROUND CHECK: LRSC requires a successful background check for the selected candidate prior to beginning employment.

Position Description & Details

JOB SUMMARY. Duties include teaching, recruiting and enrolling students; assisting students in developing sound farm financial and production records; submitting completed year-end farm business analysis for state and local averages; student advising; and curriculum development. Provide leadership to the Farm Management program, supervision of existing instructors, mentor new instructors, and represent Lake Region State College within the ag community and the state farm management associations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an agriculture-related discipline, business, accounting, or other related field; one or more years of experience in agriculture; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to articulate and support the community college philosophy with a strong commitment to teaching and learning in a community college setting; and ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups. Instructor will be required to obtain North Dakota State Board for Career and Technical Education certification.

Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree in an agriculture-related discipline, business, accounting, or other related field Documented agribusiness experience, farm management experience, and/or teaching experience. Experience using Quicken, FINPACK, Easy-Farm, and/or other farm record keeping software is preferred but not required.

SALARY: Competitive faculty salary based on education and experience with additional compensation provided for serving as the program director.
