Post Doctoral Scholar

Post Doctoral Scholar will perform analysis of SWOT (Surface Water Ocean Topography) discharge data accuracy. The SWOT mission is scheduled to launch in 2022, and will measure global rivers, lakes and oceans.

As most global rivers are ungaged, SWOT discharge will provide a major step change in ability to analyze hydrology in ungaged basins. As part of the SWOT Science Team, the Water Cycle research group at the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center will be performing detailed analysis of the accuracy of the SWOT discharge data product as a function of river type, and place within a watershed. We seek a postdoc to assist with experiment design, data management, and accuracy assessment.


Additional Information:

A Ph.D. in Earth Sciences or related field, with hydrology and statistics coursework is required. Experience working with remote sensing of river water surface elevations and comparisons to in situ measurements is highly desired. The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 per year.
