The Soil, Water, and Nutrient Management (SWNM) Lab is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate to work on a USDA-NRCS Conservation Effort Assessment Project (CEAP) in South Florida. The postdoc will be based at the University of Florida - Everglades Research and Education Center in Belle Glade, Florida. The postdoc will be responsible for coordinating and conducting a long-term field and watershed-scale hydrological and geospatial research network within the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA), in South Florida. Primary methodologies to be implemented in the research include, but are not limited to, field monitoring using sensors (water level recorders, automated weather sensors, water quality sensors) and direct sampling (soil and water samples, auto-samplers, flow measurements, vegetation samples). The postdoc will be responsible for coordinating logistics of field and laboratory data collection and various aspects of core lab functions (sensor design and troubleshooting, field safety, equipment ordering, lab safety, data quality control and management). The project entails a significant amount of hydrologic modeling; thus, experience working with the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) and Agricultural Policy/Environmental eXtender (APEX) models are desired. The applicant should have a valid driver’s license and anticipate statewide travel. Other key responsibilities include team coordination and methods development in aid of team activities. The SWNM lab is committed to supporting work-life balance and creating an environment that promotes and supports a diverse and welcoming student, staff, faculty, and overall workforce within the University. We particularly welcome applicants who can contribute to such an environment through their research, teaching, Cooperative Extension, mentoring, and professional service.
