The College of Pharmacy is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Pharmaceutical Sciences team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Appropriate PhD

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex information and data.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

Preferred Education:

  • Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Medicinal Chemistry or a related field. 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience independently designing synthetic routes, solving challenging synthetic problems, efficient in synthesizing targeted molecules (including multi-step synthesis) and using modern purification and characterization techniques (such as preparative flash purification system.)

  • Experience with the safe handling of reactive and air-sensitive materials.

  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, synthesis, purification and characterization of new heterocyclic small molecules of existing leads to develop biologically active compounds for testing in biochemical, cell-based and in vivo assays.

  • Design and synthesis of chemical probes for chemical proteomics and detailed mode-of-action studies.

  • Contribute to the development of research techniques and methods in collaboration with other lab members.

  • Documentation of all experiments in electronic notebooks including written, publication- quality experimental procedures, MS and NMR records.

  • Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, posters and oral presentations

  • Provide guidance, as required, to support any graduate or undergraduate students who may be assisting with the research.

  • The appointed Postdoctoral Fellow will often be required to work on several projects concurrently and also needs to have the experience to be able to operate within a multidisciplinary research environment.

  • Provides written reports (including abstracts & manuscripts for publications) of research findings and literature search, as/when requested. 

  • Assists in formulating research objectives, programs, and priorities

  • Assists in grant writing as needed

  • Order and prepare buffers and research reagents as needed and keeps a log

  • Assists with planning, developing, coordinating, and administering research projects

  • Manage and overseas research equipment

  • Comply with all state and university policies

  • Demonstrates intermediate to expert skills with Microsoft office software, and is able to learn and use institutional software systems.

  • Supervisory responsibilities: may carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s objectives, policies and applicable laws.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
