Maintenance Painter I

College and Area Information:

Eastern Arizona College’s District Offices are located in Thatcher, Arizona, a beautiful rural area with easy access to arid as
well as mountainous recreation. The College is located approximately 125 miles northeast of Tucson and 165 miles southeast
of Phoenix. EAC is a comprehensive community college offering five associate degrees across nearly 50 programs of study.
Eastern Arizona College is the oldest member of the Arizona Community College system and is fully accredited by The Higher
Learning Commission.

Organizational Relationship:

The Maintenance Painter I reports to the General Maintenance Supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two to three years of experience working in the painting trade.
  • Experience in the preparation of various surfaces using scrapers, sanders, chemical washes and pressure washers.
  • Proficient with a brush and roller.
  • Ability to operate airless spray equipment and cap sprayer.
  • Ability to perform moderate to hard physical labor including lifting, moving and/or working with heavy weight.
  • Ability to perform trade skills in various physical surroundings, including heights and tight spaces, and in all types of
weather.
  • Team player that can take directions and work well with minimum supervision in a small organization, and to work
cooperatively with other personnel.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and ability to implement these in job performance.
  • Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to safely operate all types of equipment commonly used in building trades.
  • Working experience in various trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing or masonry.
  • Set forms, pour concrete and finish surfaces.
  • Ability to perform time and materials cost estimating

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general painting on exterior and interior surfaces of all buildings
  • Apply roof coatings to build up roof systems as needed
  • Paint all curbs for loading zones, reserved parking, handicapped parking, etc.
  • Perform minor repairs, patching of sheet rock, plastering, caulking, and other paint preparation.
  • Maintain good appearance of roof gutter systems, metal stair cases, hand rails, sign posts, grandstands, etc.
  • Custom stain doors and cabinets.
  • Perform duties safely indoors and outside in varied environments; subject to "call out" at all hours and in all types of
weather.
  • Perform general carpentry such as building/constructing, partitioning, or remodeling.
  • Assist with other trades such as carpenters, plumbers, HVAC, electrical, concrete as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Compensation and Position Availability:

The initial position compensation is $4,177 per month ($24.10 p/h) plus a cash flex benefit. The position also includes
excellent employee benefits. The anticipated position start date is as soon as practicable once the successful candidate is
identified.

business hours, at each of the campuses: EAC Police Department, located at 620 N. College Avenue, Thatcher, AZ (Thatcher Campus); Gila
Pueblo Campus Administration Office, located at 8274 Six Shooter Canyon Road, Globe, AZ (Gila Pueblo Campus); and Payson Campus
Administration Office, located at 201 N. Mud Springs Rd., Payson, AZ (Payson Campus).

A fire log containing all reported fires that occurred at any of EAC's on-campus student housing facilities is available during normal business
hours at the Housing Office, located at 900 N. College Avenue, Thatcher, AZ.
