JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The research labs of Dr. Katsuhiko Murakami and Dr. David Gilmour in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The Pennsylvania State University, are seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to analyze the structure and function of eukaryotic RNA polymerase II (Pol II) transcription complexes by cryo-electron microscopy and biochemical methods.

The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, or molecular biology, and have experience in the structural study of macromolecular complexes or the investigation of cellular RNA polymerase transcription. Some familiarity working with Drosophila could be helpful but not necessary since our intent is to isolate native transcription complexes from genetically modified Drosophila.

This is a fixed-term position funded for one year from the date of hire with an excellent possibility of re-funding.
