Under general supervision, supports the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) with full life-cycle application development using a variety of software development tools such as PowerBuilder . Support, maintain and develop all intra-laboratory applications to improve laboratory work-in-process while integrating them into LIMS as a whole system. This includes maintaining current applications and designing and implementing new applications as new business requirements arise.
  • Develop custom reporting for faculty and clients (i.e. Pfizer, a large client that has a unique homegrown data warehouse), which requires accession results to be transmitted electronically to ftp server. Files need to be formatted in such a way that extensive code is developed, tested, and analyzed to guarantee confidentiality.

  • Integrate the ability of using Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC) codes within current LIMS system that does not support LOINC.
  •  Create communication algorithms that allows for the interfacing of diagnostic instruments with the database system. Communication can be via serial RS-232 port, parallel port, USB, or TCP/IP.
  • Create interoperability to be incorporated into these solutions to provide near real-time reporting of results performed on diagnostic instruments.
  • Integrate communication algorithms into LIMS or other intra-laboratory application in an efficient manner providing accurate results.
  • Research the possibilities to integrate other software such as MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and Simple Index within the LIMS software. Knowledge of the MS Office and Adobe Acrobat application program interface (API) and developer tools is needed.
