The team from Chaplaincy Health Care focuses on the entire person – their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. We guide, comfort and care for people experiencing serious illness, end of life, behavioral health issues, personal crisis and grief.

PURPOSE

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is accountable to the Board of Directors and is responsible for leadership within the agency to ensure fulfillment of the mission, policies and objectives established by the Board. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is also responsible for development of agency plans and strategies; for direction of the financial affairs; for management of contracts and for implementation of all programs and services. The CEO is directly responsible for maintaining compliance with Federal, State and local codes, and regulations as they apply to the agency. In addition, the CEO serves as the principal individual with respect to outreach and communications with the community.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university, minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business/ management or related field with professional development or course work related to geriatrics, government finances and public relations.
  • A minimum of 10 years professional experience, progressive supervisory or managerial experience in health care organizations.
  • Proven track record of progressively responsible management and administrative experience effectively leading an outcomes-based organization and staff.
  • Experience in leading an organization to the next stage of growth.

PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • An advanced degree related to geriatrics, government finances, public relations, etc.
  • Experience in Hospice

  • Ability to work effectively to collaborate with and integrate diverse groups of people including the community at large and supporting community organizations.
  • Ability to work with a Board of Directors and cultivate Board member relationships.

  • A personal spiritual foundation grounded in faith-based principles and values with respect and tolerance for varied faith traditions.
  • Basic knowledge of hospice care, palliative care, bereavement care, Chaplain duties, therapy, fundraising, etc. as listed in the Basic Purpose of the Job.

In conjunction with the executive team:

o Interprets and evaluates trends in the fields of agency services relative to new developments and technologies, standards of operation and changing federal and state laws, and recommends modifications and improvements as appropriate.

o Prepares the agency budget and provides periodic financial reports and audits in conformity with GAAP to the Board and funding agencies to ensure that the agency maintains a sound financial standing.

o Manages and encourages active volunteer staff involvement.

o Implements and periodically reviews agency policies and forwards to the Board those which it must approve.

o Ensures that the agency meets all legal obligations and that it is viewed as responsive and responsible by applicable governmental and regulatory agencies in accordance with agency By-Laws.

o Ensures all Chaplaincy Health Care employees follow the minimum standard regarding PHI when accessing patient information on a need-to-know basis only. All employees will practice appropriate safeguards when accessing this information and approve and monitor subordinate POHI systems access.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Meets with the Board of Directors regularly to discuss the agency’s financial status, mission and goals, expenditures, clinical and strategic issues, public relations, opportunities, and market challenges. Insures the following:

o Maintains strong spiritual foundation for the agency.

o Provides positive leadership and management of programs providing services to clients and the community in accordance with the agency’s stated mission and values.

o Provides a positive vision for the future of the agency, aligning human, financial and physical resources behind the mission and values of the agency.

o Is responsible for the leadership of Board approved agency initiatives.

o Ensures quality control programs are appropriately maintained.

o Ensures regular communication with the executive team and the President and Vice President of the Board of Directors.

o Leads, coaches, develop and retain a high-performance executive team. Ensures measured successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, stakeholders, and other constituents.

o Manages and directs the staff, through the leadership team, in the performance of duties in a positive and engaged manner.

o Work availability: Exempt, expected minimum of 40 hours per week with the expectation that all supervisory/ management staff members support the agency in internal team building and community events which may take place outside of normal business hours.

o In conjunction with the Board of Directors, periodically develops or updates the agency’s strategic plan. Takes the lead in implementing the strategic plan and periodically keeps the Board on the status of strategic goals accomplished.
