Maintain and move the college’s furniture and furnishing and make deliveries, pick up donations.
Event Set-ups and tear down. Furniture installation for offices, classrooms, labs, conference rooms, etc.
Dispose and contain of waste: trash, oil, sawdust, hazards waste, chemicals, etc.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
-Follow directions and complete work orders given by Utility Supervisor and Lead Utility Worker.
-Solve problems which may include other department’s furnishing needs.
-Receive and distribute large items and articles for College departments.
-Under the direct supervision of the Lead
Utility Worker will maintain all clocks and systems, furniture moving and lighting fixtures.
-Assist with snow removal during winter months and be on call for support help.
-Perform small repairs on college furniture.
-Work with outside contractors on any support on event set ups and tear downs or projects.
-Haul out garbage, used oil, into containment storage.
-Deliver surplus equipment and furnishings. -Helping the custodial department as assigned.
-Other duties as assigned.
High school Graduate or equivalent.
One year of related, paid full-time work experience.
Additional related education/training may be substituted for required work experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Furniture repair, clocks, set ups and tear downs of events, man lifts.
-Must be able to speak, read, write and communicate in English.
-Have the ability to lift and move furniture 100 lbs or more consistently.
-Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and go up and down a ladder for long periods of time.
-Ability to operate forklifts, man lifts, and maintenance equipment for 2 hours at time without disruption.
-Ability to work under pressure.
-Valid Utah Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.
-Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
-Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
