Post Doc Instructions

Please do not submit an application to this posting.  To apply for this postdoctoral research opportunity, follow the directions below in “Applicant Special Instructions”.

Department Name/Job Location

This position is in the Department of Radiology.  This position is for the Medical School Campus.

Essential Functions

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the research group of Dr. Sotiras, a part of the Computational Imaging Laboratories (CIL) at Washington University in St. Louis. The primary focus of the group is to use machine learning and image analysis methods to solve clinical neuroscience problems. CIL is a diverse and interdisciplinary team whose research focuses on advancing imaging informatics technology and developing advanced computational techniques for quantitative image analysis.

The successful candidate will lead or participate in projects developing, implementing, and applying machine learning algorithms for the analysis and interpretation of medical images and related clinical data. More specifically, the successful candidate will develop novel computational and analytical techniques to improve our understanding of brain structure and function in health and disease. Applications include studying Alzheimer’s disease and brain development. Anticipated activities entail integrating of multi-modal imaging data, analyzing the relationship between brain imaging markers and cognition or clinical status, and building predictive tools for patient-specific diagnosis and prognosis. Attention to detail, organizational capability, and the ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks are essential. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to be able to work independently, as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to work closely with clinical investigators and will have ample opportunities to present research methods and scientific findings at national and international conferences, and to publish results in academic journals.

The appointment is of limited duration generally, not to exceed five years cumulatively unless there are extenuating circumstances.
