This job posting meets the requirements of the Federal Work-Study. All Federal Work-Study students applying to this position will be asked to provide a copy of their work-study award to the hiring manager.

The Student Assistant will provide administrative support to the department. Have experience in social media platforms and the ability to use Canva. In addition to performing miscellaneous clerical duties, the Student Assistant will also be required to answer phones and greet visitors to the office, taking detailed messages for staff follow-up as necessary. S/he will also be required to assist with various department projects as assigned.

Position Duties
Responsibilities:
  • Create flyers for social media using Canva
  • update, monitor and oversee all social media accounts
  • Greet and assist incoming visitors
  • Answer a wide variety of questions related to the department’s procedures and other general questions (training will be provided)
  • General clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, shredding, sending faxes, and other duties as assigned
  • Assist with a heavy volume of phones; taking detailed messages for staff follow-up as necessary
  • Perform other such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time
Position Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable and patient with visitors
  • Office experience a plus
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills
  • Strong media background to assist with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts
  • Strong marketing background to assist in promoting events
