Introduction

University of the Sciences (USciences) has an immediate need for a qualified candidate for the position of Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in computer-aided drug design in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral associate to carry out research under the direction of the PI aimed at developing models to rationalize and predict the activities of small molecule drug candidates with activity against serotonin receptors, using an array of methods including 3D modelling, molecular dynamics, coarse-grained simulation, and machine learning; explore strategies for relating the activities of small molecules to their electronic properties using quantum chemistry and other physical methods; build custom software applications for data management, analysis and visualization; assist in the preparation of manuscripts and presentations.

May 3, 2021 to April 30, 2023 (assuming continuation of funding as planned)

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required

  • Doctorate in chemical physics or allied area, and significant postdoctoral experience is required.

  • The successful candidate must have experience in the use of molecular modeling tools (MOE and/or Schrodinger), molecular simulation, and quantum chemistry, along with experience in programming, data analysis and visualization, preferably in Python.

  • Experience with modeling G-protein coupled receptors is a plus

  • The finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.
