Rank: Appointment level to any faculty position is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Salary: Nine-month position. Competitive salary depending on experience. The College also provides a comprehensive benefits package.

Required Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field. A pre-employment drug screen is required. Must be able to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license and Florida Department of Law Enforcement general topics instructor certification.
Preferred Qualifications: A master’s degree is preferred. Formal teaching experience and/or law enforcement experience is preferred. High liability instructor certifications preferred. A current Florida Department of Law Enforcement general topics instructor certification is preferred.
Key Responsibilities: This is not a comprehensive list of responsibilities.
Administrative – Program Manager:
- Schedule 5,000+ hours of training annually including classes, instructors, and facilities.
- Maintain detailed student and course files ensuring 100% compliance with FDLE requirements and Florida Administrative Code in preparation for annual FDLE audit.
- Oversee daily management of six Basic Law Enforcement and three Corrections Academy classes including, but not limited to, attendance, grades, student performance, and student discipline.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with agency personnel.
- Review and process academy applications per state statute and conduct entrance interviews with prospective recruits.
- Serve as a mentor and advocate for academy recruits.
- Monitor and renew all instructor certifications per state statute.
- Attend open house/recruitment events as program representative.
Teaching:
- Teaches assigned courses.
- Assists in curriculum development, course reports, and textbook selection.
- Uses instructional technology methods when presenting course content.
- Provides written course syllabus which includes classroom policies, procedures, grading, and learning outcomes.
- Uses appropriate and up-to-date course materials, including learning objectives, texts, and supplementary teaching materials.
- Applies classroom management strategies in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online format.
- Implements student assessment policies, such as testing or observation of skills.
- Submits grades or other course assessment reports in a timely manner.
- Manages routine classroom responsibilities in a professional manner.
Professional Development:
- Participates in activities that advance professional competencies and teaching skills.
- Engages in activities that advance the teaching discipline or profession.
- Maintains or acquires appropriate or required certifications, licensure, or other professional credentials.
College Responsibilities and Service:
- Keeps scheduled office hours as required by the respective load formula for the purpose of academic advising.
- Records student attendance as necessary.
- Attends department, division, and college-wide academic functions.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of areas of discipline to be taught.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors.
- Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications.
- Commitment to the community college mission, innovative and effective teaching, sustained and significant professional development, and service to the College.
- Computer literacy and the ability to navigate in a Windows environment.
