The Marysville Tulalip Chamber President/CEO directs all planning to carry out chamber objectives and implement chamber policy, as established by the Board of Directors.

This executive position is accountable for the effective and efficient operation of all organizational activities of the chamber and its foundation, including but not limited to: program initiatives; membership recruitment, development and retention; hiring; training and supervision of staff; total fiscal responsibilities within agreed upon financial resources; and developing and maintaining a collaborative working relationship between the Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce and businesses and public policy/governmental organizations, including the Tulalip Tribes, other regional chambers and other regional organizations to foster a strong business environment for the members.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Non-profit Administration, or Business Administration preferred, and 5 years successful experience in Non-profit management, plus specialized training in Chamber of Commerce or association management, accounting and economic development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· At least five years’ experience as a successful leader with business acumen or a success field deemed appropriate for the position, Chamber and/or other non-profit management, is preferred.

· Experience in grant writing, fundraising, knowledge of managing a County Visitor Information Center, budget development, QuickBooks and Excel spreadsheets.

· Must have proven communications skills and be able to effectively deal with volunteers, public officials and the general public. Excellent planning, writing and verbal skills required.

· Demonstrated ability to positively affect change and manage balanced budgets in a business/non-profit/membership-driven or comparable organization.

· Website development, Media relations, events development, non-dues revenue program development.

· Superior writing, proofing and grammar skills for newsletters and press releases, legislative position papers and annual reports.

· Experience in Sovereign Nation relationships/partnerships, preferred.

· Successful completion of a background check.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

· A proven track record managerial success through leadership of staff in their achievement of goals; motivating and building staff capacity and value; and well-developed and proven organizational and program design skills.

· Strong political acumen in this apolitical position with an ability to tactfully work with differing opinions, build consensus, represent chamber members individually and collectively and have strong interpersonal skills that inspire confidence.

· Excellent communication skills, including written, oral and listening skills, public speaking in large and small groups, representing the chamber in both print and broadcast interviews and attention to a multitude of detail.

· Serves as the organization’s primary liaison with the public sector and with major trade and professional organizations. Acts as the primary spokesperson for the organization and represents the officers, Board and membership in this capacity.

· Ability to create strategic public/private partnerships, including building alliances with a wide range of constituencies and influencers that include business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, elected officials and the media.

· Passionate enthusiasm and desire to help the organization reach its goals.

· A proven organizer, who has outstanding time management skills, is approachable, visionary and has absolute integrity.

· An innovator who thinks outside the box.

· A strong understanding of what a chamber of commerce or similar membership-driven organization is and the ability to work with a wide variety of people.

· Checks in with chamber members on a regular basis for the purpose of building goodwill and gathering information to share on member needs and opinions.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· While performing the duties of this job, the President will primarily work in an office-based setting with little temperature variance and minimal to moderate noise. Work is occasionally performed at community events, which may occur outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and with the usual hazards associated with venue sites.

· The President must have the ability to carry up to 35 pounds. They must be able to crouch, kneel, twist, stoop, reach, bend, pivot, and climb. And they must have the ability to travel to other cities and states via auto, boat, train, or air travel.

· The incumbent will be in contact with magnetic surfaces and be required to carry a communication device, ie. a cellular phone. The employee may be required to travel to attend meetings and conferences via auto, boat, train, or air travel. Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.

Salary, $60k-$70k
