Responsibilities

Karen D. Wood & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance companies, is seeking a Legal Secretary to join the San Diego, CA office. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to supporting two Attorneys with requesting and bookmarking medical records, discovery follow-up, e-filing, drafting pleadings/motions, calendaring and scheduling. The most qualified candidates will have the ability to communicate effectively, work independently, and prioritize workload in a fast paced and time sensitive environment.

This is a hybrid position working Monday-Friday. The selected candidate should plan to spend time working both in the San Diego office and from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.

Based in San Diego, CA, we enjoy an active and busy civil trial practice. We provide a congenial, team-oriented, and professional work environment with skilled support staff



Qualifications

  • 1+ years of civil litigation experience in an insurance defense or personal injury environment is preferred
  • Experience with medical record requests
  • Experience with California e-filing procedures
  • Experience drafting motions/pleadings
  • Strong technical agility including proficiency in software technology and tools such as Microsoft Suite, Adobe Professional, and case management software
  • Potential salary range: $58,000-$75,000
  • Potential yearly incentive pay up to 6% of the base salary (results may vary year to year)
