Better Together is a national collaboration of soybean outreach groups working to effectively deliver unbiased, research-based information to benefit US soybean production. The purpose of Better Together is to coordinate organizations that communicate research-based best management practices (BMPs) for US soybean farmers and other stakeholders, maximizing impact.
Essential Job Duties
The Better Together Project Manager position will provide management, coordination, outreach, and engagement support for the national Better Together initiative. The Project Manager will work with the Science for Success Initiative, Crop Protection Network, GROW, Take Action, the Soybean Cyst Nematode Coalition, and other collaborative soybean groups to provide best management practices to US Soybean Farmers through coordinated, collaborative outreach efforts.

- Administers the execution of the Better Together strategic plan (called the Strategic Roadmap) as well as the grant deliverables.
- Oversee the Bean Binoculars tool, including, but not limited to the recruitment of contributors, entry of new submissions to the website, management of training documents, advertising/promoting the tool, etc.
- Organizes substructure of the Better Together Working Group, helps with Working Group goal setting and work towards the achievement of those goals.
- Coordinates all meetings for Better Together, including setting the meeting agenda, taking meeting minutes, organizing calendar invites/logistics, etc. Management of meeting logistics.
- Leads both internal and external communications for the initiative.
- Maintain file sharing system and team platforms (such as Basecamp).
- Provide vision and execution on capturing and documenting Better Together impact documentation.
- Execute technical reporting requirements for Better Together grants.
- Accounting for Better Together grants led by NC State.
- Assists Better Together teams with coordination and collection of grant documents.
- Independently drive a program vehicle (pick up truck) to various site locations.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
Other Required Qualifications
- Expertise in managing programs and teams
- Experience administering a complex administrative process with multiple stakeholders
- Logistics management and accounting experience
- Robust time management and prioritization skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Team-oriented with good problem-solving skills
- Experience with digital shared workspaces
- Knowledge of basic crop science
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with grant writing/reporting
- Experience developing/executing strategic plans
- Experience with agronomy, crop and soil science, applied research, and extension.
Required License(s) or Certification(s)
- Valid NC Driver’s License and the ability to obtain an NC Driver’s License within 60 days of hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
