Job Description

Job Title

Grants Program Manager (Hybrid or Remote Possible)

Job Description

Come grow with us! During the 2024 fiscal year, researchers at the University of Notre Dame submitted 1,310 proposals for external research funding for a total amount of $1.016 billion — the first time the University has surpassed the billion-dollar mark for proposals. In addition, the University received 829 separate awards — the largest number on record. With $223 million in total funding, these awards propelled the University past the $200 million mark for the fourth straight year. To support this immense growth, Notre Dame Research is recruiting talented research administration professionals to enhance the team that will steward our research enterprise into its next phase.

Notre Dame Research Administration and Compliance seeks critical-thinking and conscientious professionals to work as Grants Program Managers (GPM) to serve Notre Dame’s world-class faculty, staff researchers, and departmental and center/institute administrators across a variety of disciplines. GPMs support research program activities, including monitoring and maintaining award funds and accounts, providing services such as budgeting, forecasting, and reviewing expenditures for allowability, allocability, and reasonableness; communicating all grant terms and conditions to the project teams with an eye toward compliance; and assisting with hiring, purchasing, and reporting.

GPMs are expected to work proactively and anticipate the needs faculty and researchers may have during the lifetime of their projects. The ability to work independently with minimal oversight and within a wider team is critical for success in the GPM role. The Notre Dame Research Administration and Compliance team strives to deliver a seamless customer service experience to our faculty and researchers throughout the entirety of the research lifecycle.

Notre Dame Research fully embraces the University’s efforts to cultivate a coaching culture across all levels of its personnel, which encourages having regular, synergistic conversations between employees and supervisors and two-way feedback.

We are searching for entry, mid-level (level II), and senior career (level III) professionals, who have deep curiosity and a strong desire to learn. Applicants may seek to work remotely or from the beautiful Notre Dame campus adjacent to South Bend, Indiana.

Notre Dame Research is committed to creating a community that fosters equity of experience and opportunity and ensures that members of all backgrounds feel safe, welcome, and included. We strive to achieve a culture of openness, autonomy, and belonging; making Notre Dame an exceptional place for our team, partners, and collaborators to flourish.
