Position Summary:
Wagner College seeks an experienced and dynamic Director of Human Resources to lead its HR department. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff-Vice President, the Director will oversee all aspects of human resources management, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance with federal and state regulations. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a positive and inclusive work environment that aligns with the college’s mission and values.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the college’s overall goals and objectives.
- Lead recruitment efforts to attract and retain top talent, including faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Oversee the administration of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness programs.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Lead performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, and professional development plans.
- Develop and maintain HR metrics and analytics to track key performance indicators and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay informed about trends and developments in HR practices and recommend innovative solutions to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; advance degree preferred
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible HR experience, including at least four years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and Title IX.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Demonstrated experience leading diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (preferably Oracle Cloud) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Information
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000. Wagner College considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
