Job Summary

The Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking an individual excited to expand their clinical research knowledge and skills by joining our growing research team. The successful Clinical Research Coordinator will work closely with the program manager and other study team members to execute, coordinate and support our large portfolio of clinical research studies across several diverse clinical populations.  Coordinator experience and mastery of all job duties from the CRC-Assistant position on the Michigan Medicine CRC Career Ladder is required. Although combined experience will determine level placement, Assistant, Technician or Associate.

Responsibilities*

This position will be part of a team of various level CRCs within Radiation Oncology.   While multi-faceted, the bulk of this position will be leading two sections of the Michigan Radiation Oncology Quality Consortium, spanning multiple disease sites.  That high volume work requires building knowledge of oncology disease and treatments.  The candidate should have a focus and interest in medical knowledge and terminology, medical chart review and abstraction, and daily patient and physician interaction.  Attention to detail, thorough work process adherence, and careful quality control is essential to this work. 

Additionally, this position will support some straightforward clinical trials.  The clinical trial work will involve patient consenting, eligibility review, and enrollment, followed by detailed research appointment scheduling and data collection.  Radiation Oncology QA projects and clinical trials often follow patients for many years following treatment.  Therefore, this position will require comprehensive record keeping and observance of established processes to maintain long term patient tracking and compliance.   

The candidate must be reliable, hardworking, and an excellent team player.  Our diverse CRC team has collectively over 50 years of experience in Radiation Oncology clinical research.  Thus, we are seeking a new team member who had a strong desire for teamwork, wishes to learn and grow in this experienced environment, and thrives on collaborating with many individuals

Associate Level

Collects and maintains patient and laboratory data for clinical research projects. Screens and oversees the recruitment of subjects, coordinates the scheduling of experiments and the collection, processing and analysis of data and monitors subjects. Collaborates with clinical decision support teams and stakeholders to ensure the development and implementation of consistent system standards. Uses existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems. Receives instruction, guidance and direction from more senior level roles. Mastery of all job duties from the CRC-Technician position on the Michigan Medicine CRC Career Ladder is required. 

Technician Level

This position may independently provide study coordination for simple and moderately complex clinical research studies.  As a member of the coordination team, this position may help support a portfolio of projects with varying levels of complexity. Mastery of all job duties from the CRC-Assistant position on the Michigan Medicine CRC Career Ladder is required.  

Assistant Level

This is the entry level position on the Michigan Medicine CRC Career Ladder. This position provides administrative and coordination support for multiple projects in the conduct of clinical research projects. This position may assist with study coordination but will not be assigned clinical trials independently. This position may provide coordination for clinical research projects such as registries, retrospective data reviews, studies in long-term follow-up, and other non-interventional studies.

Work Schedule

This is a hybrid position.  Team members typically work in clinic 2-3 days a week and work remotely the remaining days.  Workdays are Monday through Friday, and clinic hours range from 7 am to 6 pm. Work hours should fit within the clinic range.
