Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Admissions Specialist manages and maintains student records at Laredo College, including but not limited to admissions counseling, admissions verification, admissions processing, and residency determination. This position aids in all areas of enrollment services as needed. The Admissions Specialist assists students and staff with processing and disseminating information and customer service; assistance includes training new staff in the processes
for which the yare responsible. Work necessitates strict attention to detail and adherence to state policies and procedures and institutional policies and procedures. This position establishes the tone for a student-centered, technology-based, high-performance culture that values service, quality, productivity, and efficiency. Responsible for assisting prospective and continuing students by managing admissions communications effectively and on time, as well as processing and delivering accurate information to members of the admissions an enrollment management team for file verification, acceptance, and eligibility review. In accordance with FERPA and GLBA regulations, maintains accurate student's admissions records. Counsels and advises students and parents on all aspects of admissions eligibility, as well as student records. Admits and revises admissions folders, makes independent professional judgments and adjustments to student eligibility based on unique student circumstances, processes documents and other associated duties, including appeals for residency, record audits, and enrollment revisions. Assists the Director of Admissions with there view and creation of Admissions communications, and maintenance of office processes and procedures. The Admissions Specialist directly reports to the Director of Admissions.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsible for identifying, recruiting, and contributing to the increase of admitted and enrolled student populations.
2. Counsel students and parents and assist them through the admissions and enrollment process, institutional policies and procedures, academic programs, and support services.
3. Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates admissions policies and procedures to meet students' needs while supporting the College's enrollment goals.
4. Facilitates the admissions of new, returning, domestic or international, undergraduate students.
5. Maintains direct contact with assigned students via phone, text, e-mail, etc., and responds to student inbound communication within established timeframes.
6. Admits applicants in accordance with student eligibility and institutional policy.
7. Verifies and audits student records using high school transcripts, verification forms, etc.
8. Constantly reviews student enrollment to determine student status.
9. Decision-making authority to determine student residency status, questionnaires and appeals.
10. Reviews and exercises professional judgement on residency adjustment requests such as In-District, Out-of-District, Out-of- State and Foreign which directly impact tuition revenue.
11. Analyzes data and reviews reports to ensure compliance with state regulations such as Bacterial Meningitis compliance, Texas Success Initiative compliance, Texas Direct Credit Articulation compliance, etc.
12. Verifies institution accreditation for transfer credentials.
13. Verifies graduation compliance in collaboration with the Office of Financial Aid for Federal funding disbursement.
14. Assist with developing and maintaining the admissions policy and procedures manual.
15. Coordinates and develops partnerships with other departments on campus to ensure streamlined student-centered processes.
16. Process year-round admissions requests.
17. Resolves student issues, and assists with determining the best possible admissions outcome.
18. Maintains an ongoing understanding of the computer programs and their application to all areas of processing and admissions.
19. Assist administration with ongoing projects.
20. Assists with transferring data from multiple technological platforms, including but not limited to Apply Texas Applications, high school and college/university transcripts, Texas Success Initiative (TSI) scores, and bacterial meningitis records, etc.
21. Provides in-person or virtual customer service while addressing questions and requests from students, parents, or guardians in writing regarding admissions eligibility.
22. Tracks notifications to students via postal mail and email.
23. Collaborates across campus to facilitate the admissions process while participating in on-campus and off-campus outreach events and other designated area projects.
24. Exercises a degree of supervision over the Student Employee staff.
25. Assists in keeping current with all Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board policy changes.
26. Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:- Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited College or University.
- 0 to 2 years of full-time employment experience at a progressively responsible professional level.
- 0 to 2 years of full-time employment experience in program and/or project management, data processing or data management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, or Google products for preparing documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and/or reports.
- Driver License required.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited College or University.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, Computer Information Systems, Social Behavioral Science or related field.
- •0 to 2 years of experience in a professional setting or closely related field.
- •0 to 2 years of experience working with database systems, maintaining records, or policy interpretation.
- •Experience in admissions or a closely related field in Higher Education.
- •Experience in data management, data accuracy, record maintenance and attention to detail.
- •Experience with software such as: Ellucian Banner, Soft Docs, CANVA, CASCADE, SCRIBE, etc.
- Maintains a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance required to conduct official business when travel is needed.

- Perform data entry and word processing with speed and accuracy without immediate and constant supervision.
- Knowledge and expertise in student technical support skills, i.e., retrieving reports, correspondence operations, and communication products.
- Ability to multi-task, function under pressure, work independently, accept responsibility with limited supervision, manage multiple tasks to completion, and work with frequent interruptions as part of a team environment.

- Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of and/or ability to learn Ellucian Banner administrative computing system, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, Centralized Application Service (CAS), and ARGOS reporting system, or other similar systems.
- Knowledge of the enrollment process, ie. admissions applications, admissions criteria, recruitment in a college setting, financial aid, college advising, and registration.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
