DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Principle Investigator, provide diabetes education to adult volunteers in a clinical research unit. Assist Principal Investigators in the conduct of research by providing nursing expertise in the education and monitoring of patients involved in clinical trials and other research studies, in the collection and analysis of patient data, and in the preparation of research documents for the sponsoring entities and regulatory agencies. Review protocols and attend trainings for new protocols.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California.

  • BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within 6 months of hire date.

  • Must have a minimum of six (6) months of RN experience in endocrinology and/or diabetes care.

  • Current knowledge utilizing basic nursing assessment. Comfortable with adopting new therapies in a research setting.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language and utilize medical terminology appropriately.

  • Ability to understand clinical research protocols and carry out specialized clinical education.

  • Willing to perform all tasks necessary to unit functioning and patient care.

  • Ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure.

  • Ability to set priorities and organize work.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule - days, evenings and infrequently nights as needed.

  • Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $123,902 - $173,659 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $59.34 - $83.17

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
